turtle stone

local villagers believed that the giant leatherback turtles are attracted to Rantau Abang every year because of the presence of a large black stone resembling a turtle in the river.

nobody knows the reason why do these creatures choose to come back every year. however, the local believe that the turtles are attracted by two giant turtle stones (Batu Penyu) one lies between the bushes on a little hill in the village off the coast and another soaking in seawater.

The mysterious stone on the hill is accessible in a 30 minutes short walk passing through the village. There is sign board along the way or you may get a villager to bring you there.

Whereas the other one is covered by sand and water and is not visible any more.

batu penyu - penyu menangih sape yg tahu

oghang2 tempatan masih berpegang kpd kepercayaan oghang2 dulu bahawa satu batu besor berwarne itang (bentuknya seakan-akan penyu belimbing) yg terletok diatah sebuah bukit sebenornya adalah seekor penyu gasi yg datang ke Rantau Abang utk bertelor.

menurut cerite oghang2 tua situ, diperturunkan kpd cucu cicit piut..penyu gasi tu doh jauh tersesat ke daratan. oleh sbb doh hampir kehabisan tenage utk balik semule ke pata, penyu itu pun naik atah sebuah bukit kecik dan menangih bile dpt tengok lautan dari atah bukit tu. akhirnya air mata penyu gasi tu teloh meruboh badannya menjadi batu.

tak dok sorang pun tahu sbb apa penyu2 memilih utk balik semula ke pantai Rantau Abang setiap tahung. tapi oghang2 kg setempat percaye penyu2 tu tertarik kpd 2 batu besor seakan-akan penyu, 1 terletok di atah sebuoh bukit kecik dan 1 lagi terendam dlm laut.

batu misteri yg terletok atah bukit tu boleh dilawati dengan berjalan kaki kire2 30 minit melalui jalan kg. dok susoh pun nok gi ke bukit tu, rujuk jer papan tanda or bertanye kpd oghang kg situ. lagi senang kalu gi dgn pemandu pelancong, dok pung mitok jer bantuan polih2 situ utk tunjukkan jalan.

rantau abg tu sebelah kampung amber..amber tau jugok citer tu. Dulu batu tu lg nampok mcm sekor penyu tau.. Teruskan buat citer2 mcm gini lgi tuk tganu kita yer..amber suker glekek la heh bacer..hahahha
